Republican Representative Jim Durkin has a challenger for the GOP nomination for his seat in the new 82nd District. Laura Reigle of Lemont, who recently ran unsuccessfully for school board, has announced that she’s running against Durkin in the March 20 primary.
Durkin is the Assistant Minority Leader in the General Assembly and was the ranking Republican on the Blagojevich impeachment committee.
But despite being a state rep since 2006, Durkin recently lost the support of the Lemont Tea Party because of his “poor voting record” as noted in a Lemont Tea Party emailing from early November.
Reigle recently ran as an independent for school board from District 113A, but did not win. Her main platform was to bring transparency and greater fiscal responsibility to the school board.
For more information, a profile of Reigle appeared as she ran for the school board. Reigle does not yet have a campaign website or any further information for the new campaign. She has promised more information is to come.
