The new 8th Illinois Congressional District is a hotbed of political activity, it must be said. Seems like everyone wants it! Initially there were no less than four Republicans and two Democrats in the race for the primary ballot. Now the GOP side is down to two, but the Democrats have yet to winnow any.
For his part, Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi has crossed that Rubicon and announced that he’s now raised over $1 million bucks for his campaign.
He also announced that he turned in more than twice the number of petition signatures than his opponent, Tammy Duckworth.
Duckworth, it should be noted, has the major support from the Illinois Democrat establishment, so Krishnamoorthi is the insurgent in this case.
But insurgent or no, does he have more support of the voters than Duckworth? These initial results sure make you think he might, that’s for sure.

Impressive start for a guy with saddled with bright star baggage.
Exactly right. Obviously no one realizes it yet.
I don’t think Mike Madigan and his map makers realized the potential either. Like Jackson, he thought the communitee spoke “Shwarmi” and just tuned ‘em out.
I wasn’t very impressed with Raja when we met. He just seemed to parrott Axlerod’s talking points and couldn’t see how Obama’s policies aren’t working in the real world.
He does seem to have more grassroots, uber progressive help though.
