CHAMPION NEWS – TOP STORIES:

Pension Reform Plan: Taxpayer Costs must be Fixed, not Unlimited: Our pension expert Bill Zettler has developed a comprehensive pension reform plan, which addresses the current economic crisis our state faces, while providing benefits for public sector workers that are reasonable and more in-line with those in the private sector. In introducing his plan, Zettler writes, “The discussions going on in Springfield regarding pension reform still have not addressed the key concern: taxpayers must have a reasonable, fixed annual cost going forward.”

IL Tea Party Responds to Gov. Quinn’s Pension “Stabilization” Plan: This week Governor Quinn announced his plan to “stabilize” Illinois public pensions. His plan contains some minor elements of reforms (i.e. COLA adjustment, increased retirement age) proposed by many organizations – including the Illinois Tea Party. But it falls well short of the real changes required to transform Illinois into a prosperous economy.

Congressman Johnson (IL-) Faces Scrutiny oer Timing of His Retirement: Several Republicans in McLean County and even some of the other party chairmen believe that the timing of the announcement was part of a “setup” so that Johnson could hand off the seat to his former top aide, Jerry Clarke, said McLean County Republican Party chairman John Parrott. And one of Clarke’s rivals for the nomination, state Sen. Kyle McCarter from Lebanon, Ill., has said the timing was suspicious and a “real insult to the people.”
