ILGOP to Fly Two 8th Congressional District Constituents to Los Angeles Tammy Duckworth Speak
The Illinois Republican Party announced Friday it will pay for round-trip tickets to Los Angeles, one night’s lodging, and a dinner for a fortunate 8th district constituent and a guest to attend Tammy Duckworth’s upcoming speech at Santa Monica College on September 27th. The Party will now hold a drawing Tuesday, September 25th to determine the winner.
For the past two fundraising quarters, Tammy Duckworth has raised more money in California than in the new or old 8th district. This prize is being offered in hopes that 8th district constituents can finally get the opportunity to hear Duckworth speak and freely ask her questions.
“Tammy Duckworth has turned down 10 invitations from groups in the 8th district to debate Congressman Walsh, including Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, the AARP, and the Lombard Chamber of Commerce,” said Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady. “Tammy holds very few public events in the district, and she spends most of her time traveling the country raising money in places like New York and California. Now, about 6 weeks before the election, she’s finally giving a free public speech – in Santa Monica, California.”
Brady continued, “It’s stunning that Tammy Duckworth is more interested in what people in Los Angeles think than what residents of the 8th district think. That’s why we’re happy to help two lucky constituents from the 8th district finally get the chance to hear Tammy Duckworh in person and ask her a question.”
Congressman Joe Walsh added, “Three weeks ago when Ms. Duckworth said people in the 8th district are better off now than they were four years ago, it showed how out of touch she is as a candidate. This latest trip to California is further proof that she is out of touch with the people of the district. Fortunately, this chance will give them the rare opportunity to hear Ms. Duckworth speak and perhaps even ask her a question, albeit in California. I’m thankful the Illinois Republican Party will give two lucky people this exclusive opportunity to finally meet Tammy Duckworth.”
Details: Contest is only open to Illinois’ 8th congressional district residents. Anyone who donates $3 online at ILGOPDonate.com between Noon central Friday, September 21st and Noon central Tuesday, September 25th will be automatically entered to win. The winners will be announced Tuesday afternoon.
