‘FIRE PAT BRADY’ New Calls for IL GOP Chairman to Resign After Tuesday’s Election Disaster

From William J. Kelly…

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – November 7, 2012 – Republican activist William J. Kelly and conservative leaders will hold a press conference Friday at 55 W. Monroe Street, suite 940 in Chicago at 11:00 AM to call on Illinois GOP Chairman Pat Brady and members of the State Central Republican Committee to resign in wake of Tuesday’s election disaster for Republicans across Illinois.

Kelly has released the following statement:

“Pat Brady has failed Illinois Republican voters once again and it is time for him to go. Tuesday’s election results prove that Brady is unfit for the job. He has been outmatched and outwitted by House Speaker Michael Madigan. We are asking GOP leaders and activists to join us in this call for a new beginning.”

Kelly says Brady’s record is clear: “Brady was hastily appointed by party insiders to the GOP chairmanship in 2009 – without opposition. In 2010, he bungled the GOP’s chance to retake the governor’s office in a landslide Republican year. That failure meant Illinois Democrats retained exclusive re-map control of Illinois districts.”

“On Tuesday, Republicans experienced first-hand the results of that remap: Republicans lost four congressional seats and Madigan and Cullerton increased their Democrat holdings in the legislature, gaining veto-proof majorities.”

Earlier this year, Kelly called on Brady to resign after he interfered in state GOP primaries. Brady has also been widely criticized for the state GOP’s participation in a funding scheme involving top donors to Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

At the State Convention in June, Brady and members of the State Central Committee also blocked the resolution on direct elections from going to a floor vote, which would have allowed GOP voters to “directly elect” their party leaders.

“It is time to fire Pat Brady and give Republicans a party chairman who can actually win elections. The era of arrogant, inept party insiders needs to end,” says Kelly.

Kelly is a conservative columnist with the DC-based Communities at the Washington Times and is a contributor to American Spectator. He is a former statewide Republican candidate for Illinois comptroller.
