From William J. Kelly…
It isn’t the best audio, but you can hear well enough to understand the reasons that Chicago Republican activist Bill Kelly thinks that Illinois State GOP Chairman Pat Brady must resign.
On Friday, Kelly, a former statewide candidate for Illinois Comptroller, held a press conference with conservative leaders and Chicago media calling for Pat Brady to step down as Illinois GOP Chairman effective immediately.
“Pat Brady is a miserable failure and it is time for him to go. Tuesday’s election is the proof: Brady is no match for House Speaker Michael Madigan. He doesn’t know how to run a statewide political organization. He doesn’t know how to get out the vote. He doesn’t know how to attract voters to the party. And he certainly doesn’t know how to win elections.”
Kelly says Brady’s record is clear: “Brady was appointed by party insiders to the GOP chairmanship in 2009 – without opposition. In 2010, he bungled the GOP’s chance to retake the governor’s office in a landslide Republican year. That failure meant Illinois Democrats retained exclusive re-map control of Illinois districts.”
“On Tuesday, Republicans experienced first-hand the results of that remap: Republicans lost four congressional seats and Madigan and Cullerton increased Democrat seats in the legislature, gaining veto-proof majorities.”
“When someone is incapable of doing their job, it is time to step aside. It is time to fire Pat Brady and gives Republicans a party chairman who can actually win elections. The era of arrogant, inept party insiders needs to end,” says Kelly.
