From the office of Rep. Peter Roskam (R, Illinois 6th District)…
WASHINGTON – Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the latest installment of Ask Peter today, a frequent video conversation with Sixth District residents about issues important to them. In this segment, Congressman Roskam answers a question from Matt Anderson, a small business owner from Wheaton who asked, “How can Republicans and Democrats work together to avoid the fiscal cliff?”
“So far the only thing the president has said on savings is to propose his budget again, which didn’t get a single vote in the United States Senate or even a single vote even in his own party, in the United States House of Representatives.
“So we are waiting. We put $800 billion dollars in new revenue on the table that we propose to get through tax reform and ultimately through growth in our economy, and there’s a way to move forward. But what we need now is the White House to step forward, to substantively engage leaders in Congress and to lead us away from this fiscal cliff.”
Ask Peter videos will be available to the public at Roskam.house.gov, facebook.com/reproskam, twitter.com/peterroskam, and via press release. The videos will also be sent to the constituents via e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter, depending on how they contacted the Roskam office.
