Wonderland Express Wonderland Express is open through January 6, 2013 at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Watch miniature trains wind through a village of tiny Chicago landmarks, visit an English country train platform, and view a video on the creation of Wonderland Express. Tour decorated trees in the Joutras Gallery and take in a gingerbread village display. Over 750,000 lights are strung throughout. For more information, visit the Chicago Botanic Garden website. Toy Drive & Holiday Programs Economic times are difficult; help bring joy to a child in need this holiday season! Donate new, unwrapped toys to the Hanover Township Toy Drive. Click here for a list of drop-off locations. The Sponsor-A-Family program is in need of sponsors. Sponsors will select a family size and provide gifts for all children. Providing gifts for the adults is optional. Monetary donations are being accepted for all holiday programs. A $16 donation will help buy a meal box to feed a family of four. Please contact 630-540-9085 for more information. Holiday Magic at the Brookfield Zoo Experience Holiday Magic at the Brookfield Zoo! Holiday Magic is Chicagoland’s largest holiday lights festival and includes over one million lights, animated light displays and laser light shows. The show is open from 4 – 9 PM the weekends of 12/1-2, 12/8-9, 12/15-16, and 12/22-23. Additionally, the exhibit will be open each day from 12/26 through 12/31. There will be a full schedule of nightly music and entertainment in the pavilions, and many of the indoor exhibits will be open for animal viewing. Regular parking and admission apply. This year, for the first time, the calendar features photos submitted by preserve users and voted on by our Facebook fans in a public contest. These photos capture the landscape and wildlife that make the forest preserves of Cook County one-of-a-kind.
