From the office of Rep. Peter Roskam (R, Illinois 6th District)…
WASHINGTON – Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the latest installment of Ask Peter today, a frequent video conversation with Sixth District residents about issues important to them. In this segment, Congressman Roskam answers an email from James Regis of Downers Grove about President Obama’s sequester and his concern that Obama’s answer to the sequester will be to try and raise taxes again.
“Today is the day sequester goes into effect. And today is also the first day that President Obama has agreed to meet with Congressional leaders to try and come up with a solution to turn off his sequester. Now here’s the irony: the President proposed the sequester, he made commitments to veto any efforts to undo the sequester, and now he thinks the sequester is a bad idea. Well, the House has acted twice to replace the sequester with more thoughtful cuts that meet the budget goal of saving $1.2 trillion over ten years, but to do it in a more thoughtful way.”
Ask Peter videos will be available to the public at Roskam.house.gov, facebook.com/reproskam, twitter.com/peterroskam, and via press release. The videos will also be sent to the constituents via e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter, depending on how they contacted the Roskam office.
