From the office of Rep. Peter Roskam (R, Illinois 6th District)…
Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the latest installment of Ask Peter, a frequent video conversation with Sixth District residents about issues important to them. In this segment, Congressman Roskam answers an email from James Regis of Downers Grove about sequester and how we need to focus on smarter, more thoughtful cuts.
“We don’t have to live this way; we don’t have to go back to the taxpayers, again, when there are absurd examples of waste and fraud. Sixty billion dollars a year, according to federal studies, that show waste in Medicare. Or $50 million that is being spent on ObamaCare promotion. Or $1.2 million spent by the Federal Government to promote video game playing. It’s ridiculous. So here’s the thing: we need to be better, smarter, and more clever about how we’re spending the money. And if we do that, we can come up with a good solution.”
Ask Peter videos will be available to the public at Roskam.house.gov, facebook.com/reproskam, twitter.com/peterroskam, and via press release. The videos will also be sent to the constituents via e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter, depending on how they contacted the Roskam office.
