November 10, 2013 – North Barrington, Illinois – The winner of the first Cuba Township Republicans Straw Poll is Bruce Rauner, followed closely by State Senator Kirk Dillard.
Question: “If the Republican Primary Election for Governor of Illinois was today, for whom would you vote?”
- 43% Bruce Rauner (53 votes)
- 39% Kirk Dillard (47 votes)
- 14% Dan Rutherford (17 votes)
- 4% Bill Brady (5 votes)

The Cuba Township Republicans Straw Poll was held Saturday November 9 during their Fall Fundraiser at the Biltmore Country Club in North Barrington to a packed house. Each of the four Republican Illinois Governor Candidates spoke before dinner and had time to network and engage with guests before the polls closed.
In addition to the Illinois Governor candidates speaking, Congressman Peter J. Roskam gave the keynote address. Local dignitaries in attendance include Rear Admiral John J. Mumaw, US Navy (Ret), former U.S. Congressman Joe Walsh, Lake County Republican Chairman Bob Cook, Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor, State Representative David McSweeney, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran, Lake County Board Member Nick Sauer, Cuba Township Highway Commissioner Randall Marks and Barrington Village President, Karen Darch.
“Republican voters in Cuba Township have spoken in our first ever straw poll and demonstrated our conservative commitment to taking back Illinois from the tax and spend ways of the Democrat Party.
