SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Republican candidate for Governor Kirk Dillard today issued the following statement in response to Governor Quinn’s State of the State address:
“Illinois is broke, and on top of that, Illinois is broken. Governor Quinn has failed to acknowledge that state government continues to live beyond its means and spend money we do not have.

“People are losing hope, and I don’t blame them. Those who have jobs are working hard and harder, but falling farther and farther behind. Those looking for work are wondering just how long they can hold on.
“I don’t think what we heard today from Governor Quinn will do much to console them. The Governor lacks the discipline to make the hard decisions that have to be made.
“We need new leadership in the Governor’s Office, a governor who makes job creation a real priority, not just a press release. And we need a governor who can hit the reset button, keep his promises and change the toxic atmosphere in Springfield.
“I’ve done that working with Jim Edgar, and I can do it again.”
