From the office of Rep. Peter Roskam (R, Illinois 6th District)…
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the latest installment of Ask Peter today, a frequent video conversation with Sixth District residents about issues important to them. In this segment, Congressman Roskam answers an email from Julie Siegel in Lake Zurich who is concerned about proposed IRS regulations that would limit the free speech of many conservative nonprofit organizations and issues a call to action for those concerned about the Administration’s move to restrict the activity of 501(c)(4) groups.
“What we don’t need right now is more suggestions from the IRS about how to silence political speech.”
“This is a call to action – I need you to offer your comments that will go to the official IRS comment period [website] to make sure that this is put to a stop…This is the time to speak up.”
Help stop the IRS regulations from threatening the First Amendment rights of nonprofit groups roskam.house.gov/dontbesilenced.
Ask Peter videos will be available to the public at Roskam.house.gov, facebook.com/reproskam, twitter.com/peterroskam, and via press release. The videos will also be sent to the constituents via e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter, depending on how they contacted the Roskam office.
