From the office of Rep. Peter Roskam (R, Illinois 6th District)…
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the latest installment of Ask Peter today, a frequent video conversation with Sixth District residents about issues important to them. In this segment, Congressman Roskam answers a letter from Dr. James P. Economos who is concerned about the president’s healthcare law taking away patients’ access to their doctors, increasing healthcare costs and putting more power in the hands of bureaucrats.
“The Administration has just announced that they’re going to cut $300 billion out of Medicare Advantage. Just without question that’s going to have an impact on seniors who like Medicare and want to stay in that program. The Administration’s own actuaries have come out with a study that said that 11 million people who work for small business are actually going to see their costs increase thanks to Obamacare. Look, we can do better than this.”
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) notice on the 2015 Medicare Advantage cuts can be found here. Also, CMS’s report on Obamacare’s impact on small business workers’ employer-based healthcare can be found here.
Recently, Congressman Roskam outlined GOP alternatives to Obamacare that live up to the promise of increased access to high quality, affordable healthcare for all Americans.
Ask Peter videos will be available to the public at Roskam.house.gov, facebook.com/reproskam, twitter.com/peterroskam, and via press release. The videos will also be sent to the constituents via e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter, depending on how they contacted the Roskam office.
